(18th April 2013) - The South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) has suspended the movement of humanitarian aid and workers between Bor town and Pibor County in Jonglei State.

The move was based on a security recommendation, said SSRRC director Gabriel Deng Ajak. “The advisory that we have received is to put on hold the movement of relief items between Pibor and Bor,” Mr. Deng said.

He said the advisory also recommended that the movement of humanitarian workers should be restricted. “Some trucks now are stranded in Pibor. They are yet to be escorted back. We are on the process to get a proper escort,” he said.

A UN peacekeeping convoy was attacked along the Bor-Pibor road a week ago, killing five peacekeepers and seven civilians. Others were also injured.
