(2nd May, 2013) - The government is providing food and non-food items to ex-militias who have laid down their guns in response to a presidential pardon.
About 900 former fighters and their families, who are camped in Mayom County, are beneficiaries of the assistance, Deputy Unity State Governor Michael Chanjiak said.
Chanjiak said officials were meeting with the communities within Mayom to urge them to peacefully coexist with the ex-militias as they await transportation to Juba.
Meanwhile, army spokesman Col. Phillip Aguer Panyang said a high level committee, including the acting SPLA Chief of Staff Ajongo Mawut, was discussing their integration into the army.
