In this reporting period, the Head of WHO Country Office, Dr Abdi Aden Mohamed also the Resident Coordinator–Humanitarian Coordinator a.i together with Ms.Hilde Johnson, Special Representative of the Secretary General in South Sudan, co-chaired the weekly. Dr Abdi also chaired the UN Senior Management Team meetings and the bi-weekly UN Country Team meeting.
During this reporting period, WHO coordinated the medical evacuation of three patients from Pochalla in Pochalla county to Bor State hospital.
The organization also supported the State Ministry of Health (SMoH) and cluster partners to investigate rumours of suspected meningitis and measles cases in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state and in Unity state investigations of suspected Guinea worm cases in Parun village of Pachak payam in Payinjar County was also done.
In Lakes state, WHO supported the Ministry of Health to coordinate the management of 14 casualties of gunshot wounds resulting from the unrest in Rumbek Central.
WHO further provided support to the Ministry of Health to conduct training to strengthen case management for Kala azar patients in Eastern Equatoria and Unity States.
The organization continued to provide capacity building for health workers in different states, to enable timely and prompt response to disease outbreaks and management of various diseases.
