The security situation in the country remained stable this week although there were reported tension in Pibor and Lekuangole in Jonglei state. This was mainly caused due to the presence of the Rebel Millitia groups of David Yau Yau. The threat levels however have been reportedly reduced.

There are reports of more refugees entering Yida camp, Unity state following escalating clashes in the Southern Kordufan State of Sudan. According to UNHCR the majority of the new arrivals are in poor health states. Yida camp currently houses 64,229 refugees with the majority leaving in dire conditions of water and sanitation. In Maban County, over 105,000 refugees are registered and continue receiving humanitarian assistance. The refugees live in poor conditions characterized by poor water and sanitation. This posses a public health threat to those living in the camps and host communities.

The flooding season greatly impacted negatively on the delivery of humanitarian assistance across the country. Humanitarian operations in support of health and nutrition services in Jonglei, Upper Nile, Warrap and Northern Bahr el Ghazal states have been hindered in these states. It’s anticipated that the water and sanitation levels are likely to deteriorate due to contamination with surface floods from the open fecal disposal. Over 200,000 people have been affected by floods in the ten states.
