JAMAM [ACTED News] – ACTED is leading the relocation of some 20,000 refugees from Jamam to Kaya camp in Maban county, South Sudan. Within the first week of relocation (6-12 May 2013), 2,560 refugees were safely moved. ACTED aims to continue relocation at a rate of 500 people per day to ensure that all refugees are relocated before the full onset of the rainy season, during which time the majority of Jamam camp is flooded. In the Kaya refugee camp, partner compounds and other infrastructure are already in place to support with provision of shelter, food and non food items, health services, adequate water and sanitation facilities and livelihood services. This project has been supported by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
