The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Clement Wani Konga, has donated 500,000 SSP for the rehabilitation of Yei Civil hospital.
Speaking to the press on Thursday in Yei, the state minister of health, Emmanuel Ija Baya, said the donation will be used for the upgrading of the main theatre and surgical wards in the hospital.
"The Governor of Central Equatoria has donated his Excellency Clement Wani Konga, has donated some amount of money five hundred thousand SSP for rehabilitation of the theatre then some of the wards especially the surgical wards we are going to see exactly make the estimation how much its going to cost so that the others we can be able find ways of bridging the gap so came really to find out how this thing can be done "
Meanwhile Yei County Commissioner, Juma David Augustine, raised a concern saying the capacity of Yei hospital is not enough to meet the needs of the growing population in Yei.
He appealed to the non-governmental organizations operating in the area to assist.
"I also want extend this appeal to all the partners working here in Yei the NGO'S and members of the private sector that the hospital and all other service areas like schools these are areas of concern that are highly populated today because of the influx of people to the town and there let us support the government in order to give services to the community"
Yei civil hospital is a state owned facility handed over to the county administration by Norwegian people's aid in 2008.
