- South Sudan is marked by another wave of armed clashes, namely in (former) Unity, Jonglei and Central Equatoria States. Active fighting and violent attacks against aid workers and assets negatively impact aid operations to people desperately in need.
- On 25 April, ten aid workers were detained outside South Sudan’s Yei town in Central Equatoria region. Their convoy was en route to Tore from Yei town to conduct humanitarian needs assessment. On 26 April, two other aid workers were killed in Unity State, bringing to 101 the total number of aid workers killed since the beginning of the conflict in 2013. In addition, at least 30 aid workers were relocated in the past two weeks.
- Innocent civilians are being caught in the crossfire. Killings, sexual violence, homes being burnt to the ground, lootings of hospitals are reported. Thousands of people have fled into swamp and bush areas without access to basic services. At least 600 Internally Displaced Persons sought refuge at UN Protection site in Leer and Bentiu (Unity State). More are expected.
