(1st August, 2013) - At least three people were killed and over 100 have fled their villages to take refuge in Aweil’s Maper Police Station in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State due to insecurity.

Speaking to Radio Miraya, the Chief of Aluel village, James Atak Agiu said among the people killed include two children and a woman.

Chief Atak said one man has been terrorizing people in Aluel and other surrounding villages.

The Director of Maper Police Station, Arkangelo Guot Ngor said police are trying their best to contain the situation.

He further said that local people didn’t provide accurate information to the police and appealed to people displaced from Aluel to work with police investigating the incident.

“What I want to tell these citizens is that I want them to provide us with information about where this man stays in the morning and where he stays in the evening,” he said.

“Our CID personnel are after him so we want them to provide us with information and we also want them to be patient.”
