(19th August, 2013) - Authorities in Twic County, Warrap State said one person was killed and 1,000 head of cattle were raided from three cattle camps in Mayom Thai area.
County Information Officer, Nyual Matiat Ring, told Radio Miraya that three people were seriously wounded in the incident.
He claimed that the raiders were from the neighboring Mayom County of Unity State.
“At 4am this morning, cattle raiders looted three cattle camps in Mayom Thai area. The suspects are coming from neighboring Mayom County of Unity State to Twic County's headquarters in Turalei,” he said.
“We are still waiting for more details.”
Radio Miraya could not immediately reach the commissioner of Mayom County for comment.
Under a tri-state agreement, authorities at the borders of Warrap, Unity and Lakes states have agreed to cooperate in investigating and resolving cross-border incidents.
