SITUATION OVERVIEW
In August, on average four incidents per day were reported on human rights abuses, where nearly one person was killed in each incident and thousands forced to flee their residences or villages of origin. In the northwest the insecurity compounded by taxation and violations by Seleka have resulted in the formation of community based auto defense groups keeping tensions high throughout the region. In Bangui, a disarmament programme in pro-Bozize neighoburhoods led to mass displacement, occupation of the international airport for two days by the displaced, looting of residences and the loss of life.
