(September 14, 2013) - The National Relief and Rehabilitation Commission said it is supporting more than 200,000 flood affected people across the country.
The Commission Chairperson, Peter Lam Both said the latest focus for assistance is Warrap State which has been seriously affected by flooding.
Mr. Lam told Radio Miraya on Saturday that food and non-food items, health supplies and 1, 000 mosquito nets have been distributed.
“In Warrap State where most of the devastation took place we have dispatched food items, non-food items, and health care facilities including anti-malarial drugs which are not available in the state,” he said.
We have also sent 500 tents and the International Committee of the Red Cross has been looking after the livestock there.”
The Commissioner also said his agency was not able to deliver water and sanitation supplies to Rubkona and Panyijar Counties of Unity State because the roads to the areas are impassible.
He added that health facilities have been set up in Mawut County of Upper Nile and non-food items are equally distributed.
