(November 29, 2013) - South Sudan's Red Cross (SSRC) said it has prepared emergency kits for 1,000 households in Bor town. The kits include tarpaulins, blankets, mosquito nets and farming tools.
The director of the South Sudan Red Cross in Jonglei, David Gai Deer, said the kits will be distributed to the most vulnerable communities affected by floods and conflict in the state.
“In previous months, a lot of populations around Bor were affected by different disasters, especially floods and internal violence, which displaced hundreds in Bor town,” he said.
“There is a lot of humanitarian concern, and now the South Sudan Red Cross has already mobilized over 1,000 emergency shelters," Deer said. "We are going to conduct an assessment earlier next week so that we will be able to identify the most venerable people.”
