Highlights
South Sudanese continue to cross the border into Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan. The situation remains unpredictable, even though the number of new arrivals has stabilized since the signing of the ceasefire agreement.
Over 130,000 South Sudanese have arrived in neigbouring countries since mid-December and UNHCR projects that the number could rise to 260,000 by the end of the year.
On 04 February in Nairobi, WFP and UNHCR held a joint donor briefing to present the needs related to the cross-border impact of the South Sudan crisis. WFP and UNHCR require US$79 million and US$40 million respectively to provide critical assistance for the next six months to the overall regional refugee caseload.
