Violence broke out in Juba on 15 December, and quickly spread to other locations. In the eight weeks since the crisis began, almost 724,000 people have been internally displaced across the country and nearly 145,000 have fled into neighbouring countries (Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda). NGOs and UN agencies need US$1.27 billion to meet the most urgent needs until June including vital pre-positioning of aid supplies needed throughout the year.
