Hundreds of people have been displaced by floods in Bor, Jonglei State. The floods occurred following heavy rains that burst the banks of River Nile, flooding about six villages around Bor.
A Radio Miraya reporter, who visited the area, said people are moving away from the flooded areas in search of highland areas in Bor town. A resident of Hai Machuor, one of the affected areas in suburb of Bor town, Much Jol Much, told Radio Miraya that, his house is totally flooded and calls upon state government for help.
"My house is now under water even for my brothers behind there, I put my bed on gallons and water is under the bed, now live is hard and I'm a disable this also cause me joins pain on the be because water is under the bed, if government is there it should help the affected citizens around me not only me alone"
The Jonglei State Minister for Physical Infrastructure, Manawa Peter Gatkouth, says they are fixing the broken dykes or waterways to control the flow of water.
