The security situation in South Sudan is not improving and there has recently been an increase of people crossing into neighbouring countries. Over 190,000 South Sudanese have arrived in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan since mid-December.
The nutritional status of children is of serious concern. A recent rapid assessment at an entry point in Ethiopia indicates alarming levels of malnutrition.
For the coming six months, WFP requires an additional USD 84 million to continue and strengthen its nutritional support in addition to regular food assistance at border crossings, reception centres and camps.
