Since mid-December, more than 280,000 South Sudanese have crossed the border into Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan. The influx is expected to continue as the situation in South Sudan remains precarious.
A joint high level WFP and UNHCR delegation led by WFP Executive Director, Ertharin Cousin, and UN High Commissioner for Refugees, António Guterres, visited South Sudan and Ethiopia. The two organizations will continue to collaborate to meet the needs of vulnerable South Sudanese refugees crossing the border.
WFP requires USD 62 million for the next six months to assist all refugees in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.
