The director of education in Kajo-Keji County, Central Equatoria State, Buga James Moini, has raised concern about the high school drop-out rate in the county.
Moini said more than 100 out of 200 registered pupils for the Accelerated Learning Program have dropped out.
He said the main reason is because the pupils did not receive support.
“We are really deeply concerned with this drop-out because most of these drop-outs are due to a number of reasons that we could not really enumerate them all. But however with the present situation that few candidates are sitting I think it is only Kajo-Keji which is not supported by any other NGO. But most of the counties like Lainya, Yei; they were supported with other NGOs where even part of their examination fees is paid by the NGO. And in Kajo-Keji there is no any other NGO supporting. So that is really a big setback for us here,” the commissioner said.
