Highlights
• The proportion of health facilities in Maban submitting weekly reports to the state and central level increased this reporting period to 68% (15 out of 22) as compared to week 5 (Refer table 1 for details of health facilities in Maban and Yida by supporting partners). Six health facilities serving refugees in Maban reported this week (6 out of 7 facilities), while 9 health facilities serving host communities reported this week (9 out of 15 facilities). All three health facilities serving Yida refugee camp reported in week 6.
• Acute watery diarrhea was the leading priority diseases recorded in the refugee camps (50%), followed by malaria (25%) and acute jaundice syndrome (22%).
• Six hundred and fifty four (654) suspected Acute Jaundice Syndrome (AJS) cases or Hepatitis E cases and fourteen (14) related deaths were recorded from Maban and Yida in week 6. Of these, 98% of cases and 100% of deaths were reported in Maban refugee camp, Yusuf Batil in particular. Only 2% of cases were reported in Yida refugee camp. The cumulative AJS cases recorded from Maban refugee camps was 6340, and 121 related deaths, while 149 AJS cases and 7 deaths were recorded in Yida as of week 6. The trend of AJS cases in Batil is still very high since week 48 of 2012 despite some effort by WASH partners to address sanitation and hygiene gaps identified by MSF assessments in Batil and Doro.
• One suspected meningitis case was recorded from Doro refugee camp this week, and the cumulative meningitis cases reported from the refugee camps in the last six weeks was 8.
• There was no report of suspected Cholera, Measles or VHF cases from refugee camps, but the trend of acute watery diarrhea slightly increased this reported period.
