(September 2, 2013) - The South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) has delivered 500 tents to victims of floods in Warrap State.
The tents will provide shelter as the state government looks for solutions, the commission’s chairman, Peter Lam Both, said.
He also said that food and non-food items have been delivered in aid to thousands of people affected by the floods in neighboring Unity and Upper Nile States.
The non-food items included tents and mosquito nets, he said.
But in Warrap State, the supply of food aid has been hampered by poor roads. “In Warrap State, we have food and non-food items available. But the problem has been that the rain has been so bad that the food is not reaching the people because the trucks cannot move in the mud,” Mr Lam told Radio Miraya. “We have put food in designated centers, where people will be informed to come and take from there,” he explained.
A UN report last week said that nearly two-thirds of the country was inaccessible by roads as a result of the floods.

The Council of Ministers, in an ordinary meeting on Friday, formed a committee headed by Cabinet Affairs Minister, Martin Elia Lomuro, to assess the impact of the floods.
